There is a .inf file somewhere that needs to be deleted. I don't remember the details.

springer,

Let's try the following to fix the exe file association:

Open Notepad: Start > All Programs > Accessories > Notepad
If you cannot open Notepad, press CTRL ALT DEL (simultaneously), and open Task Manager.
Once there, click File, then hold down the CTRL key
Click: New Task (Run)
This opens a Command Prompt window.
Enter: Notepad, and press Enter.

Now, copy and paste ALL the Registry code that appears below into Notepad, including the Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 portion

PC Prof,

It would be best if you started your own topic. ;-)

In the meantime, if you are getting errors when executables are run, or, executables are blocked from running, do the following:

Please download exeHelper from one of these two places:
http://www.raktor.net/exeHelper/exe...
http://www.raktor.net/exeHelper/exe...

Save it to your Desktop

Vista or Windows 7 users right click the downloaded file and select “Run as Administrator"
XP users, double-click on the downloaded file to run the program

A black window should pop up
Press any key to close, once the fix is completed.

>>Please post the contents of the exehelperlog.txt in your reply.<<
[It is created in the directory where you ran exeHelper, and should also open at the end of the scan.]

When exeHelper finishes, restart your computer.

See if you can run .exe files now.
