My question is: why are people NOT upset about stuff like this??? Spyware, adware, scumware and the likes.
If you care about your computer you *should* care about Kazaa and the likes.

I have been asked to HELP a few friends PCs who had problems with KAZAA. Usually, am able to get them back going again, and I tell what CRAP KAZAA is, but they just go right back to using it again and then problems occur again. I have never understood that, why they go right back to using that CRAP. Is a free ride that attractive? I can only speak for myself, but the warnings are out there and if people still use the product, then I hope they are willing to accept the risk involved.

"You using Kazaa? thanks for opening the doorway to ANYTHING on your PC"
This is a common quote from hackers that want to steal, spy, install easier to open backdoors & viruses.
I personally have warned my brother about this file sharing program opening him up to 90% better chance of gitting viruses, he has learned the hard way. Kaza lite isnt so much more 'secure' as people thinkit is. look into some of the hacking forums, youd be suprized what you find related to kazaa! As NORM says above "SAY NO TO KAZAA"

I too have had problems with Kazaa/Morpheus (see: openme.exe saga continues - Security and Viruses page) and found it very disconcerting, mainly because of the AMOUNT of unwanted material I found on the ol' PC once I started digging.
I like free stuff, but now that I am more informed I am not willing to risk using these mainstream programs. I had a hope with Kazaa-lite, but after reading this message board, I have doubts.
Is it becoming absolutely necessary to go the high road and buy everything legit (which I do most of the time anyways)? Or is there a "safe" file-sharing program around for the casual user to get the occasional song? Evan

Kazaa is as good as illegal (please do not get into an arguement about whether it is or not, you know what I mean).
For legit music downloads, have you tried the website of the artist? Recently Massive Attack had a high quality downloadable of their tune 'I against I'
Try MP3.com I have seen lots of great music there, all High quality MP3's (well duh)
As for people who download EXE's from Kazaa, it's your funeral :)
Well that is my 2 cents

Well I'll say this if you know how to maintain your computer and you don't actually mind maintaining it....Kazaa is a VERY small price to pay for getting basically anything software or music that you want....
P.S. If a REAL hacker wants into my computer....they'll get in!!!!

I'm a happy Zazaa user. The problem is when I use it on my high end 2.0 GHZ Windows XP machine, it takes up most of my CPU and slows everything else down. However, when I run Kazaa on my lesser laptop with Windows 2000 this does not happen. Is there any fixes for this. Why does this happen?

well i noticed many problems with kazaa while its running. First of all, when i edit details on files while i have a download (or an upload) i noticed that i get EXPLORER ERROR's galore. Finally, after clicking "OK" a few million times or so, i will get A kazaa error and it basically shuts down. I know it uses alot of memory to run, and im on a 10 gb hardrive...but is there anything i can do? Im sick of the hassles.
