I recently dumped Symantec after so many years of devout loyalty (no point going into details), and have since been bouncing around some other AV programs.
Haing done my own research, I think am now ready for a suitable NSW's replacement, it is now pretty much between KAV and NOD32, I do know you are only as protected as your definition updates. My question is has anyone tried both programs side by side and is KAV really a resource hog like NAV. I tend to lean toward KAV and want to know if I anyone out there has any other quirks that I need to know about the program before hand.
Both programs performed good from comparative tests from here and also here, but I want some realtime input from everyday users.
Thank you.

Sabertooth, you make the choice a tough one. Both programs are excellent. I have used NOD32. I have not tried Kaspersky due to its cost. NOD32 has such a long history of being the best, and I found their customer support to be excellent, which is why I choose to use it.

hi sabretooth,
like the capt. i have also been using nod. i have used nod for 4 yrs. and have more than satisfied. it has saved my butt on many occasions.
as for kapersky i have used it a few times and will say its a fine product as it has what no other anti-virus has and that is an extra anti-trojan engine which makes it better than most at catching trojans.
another good anti-virus worth looking at would be hauri as it is very good at repairing infected files.
all the best,
murve

Sabertooth,Im currently using Nod32 in my windows pc and it is an excellent Av.I have also used Kaspersky pro,and its also an excellent Av.I find that nod32 is more effective at detecting viruses then Kaspersky, and i find that Kaspersky is more effective at detecting trojans then nod32.But i would give the overall vote to Nod32.
Give them both a try and decide for yourself on what works best for you.
TAKE CARE!!

Thanx for the responses, I may just have to try KAV to find out how resource efficient it is. BTW I just uninstalled Virobot before posting this, so that rules HAURI out of the equation.

I have used NOD32 and KAV.
I didn't have both programs at the same time but I can say that each has their own pros and cons.NOD32 runs a lot "lighter" on resources and has a good test record at VB100.
KAV has better trojan detection and it has updates at least daily.More expensive than most av programs.
An av program to watch closely is MKS_Vir 2004.It's from Poland and recently became available in English. The trial is 14 days.It does use a lot of resources so it may not be suitable for older computers with low RAM yet.Excellent support from a US reseller.
JB.
