Hi,
I had slaved a drive to mine to retrieve files from it and burn them on a dvd. Before I burned the DVD I did a virus scan on the drive and it found some malware which I deleted.
When trying to burn the disc with the files from F drive I kept getting errors from ny recordnow, so I decided to download them to my drive and then burn them....BIG mistake!!!After I burned the files, I should have disconnected the F drive because as soon as I rebooted it said it had to check the consistancy of F (slave) drive, I said ok, it scanned the disc and then suddenly started nenaming orphan files at a real quick pace. This went on for a few minutes so I decided to shut down my PC using normal shutdown.
It shut down, I then disconnected the drive and rebooted...my PC wouldn't boot up, so I did a repair install. That went fine, but when it booted up, all I got was the wallpaper and nothing else.
I tried safe mode but am unable to initiate it as for some reason the gateway logo didn't start-up...it just goes to the XP logo and then loads.
Are there any commands I can use to make my PC functional again (without reformatting)
Your help is appreciated.
ThanksSome HELP in posting on Cnet plus free progs and instructions Glad to Help!
