I'm having a problem entering links. When I'm in a site and try to click on certain links, I get a popup that looks like a computer page with a large red "X" on it and I am not allowed to go into the link. For instance, I was in Lowes.com and was doing fine until I clicked on "print your coupon" and could go no further as I kept getting this popup. I right-clicked and went into properties and it said for the URL something about javascript popup. How can I get rid of this popup and be able to enter these links? Thanks.

Do you have Java installed? Java no longer comes with XP from Microsoft, due to a lawsuit. Have you installed the Macromedia players, Flash and Shockwave?

Check what the Java setting are in the browser using tools>internet options>advanced. Check what your popup blocker settings are.

Bestdobie, you did not metion what firewall you are using. It might be one that has all kinds of browser and popup blocking settings as part of its package, so be sure to check those settings as well.

Thank you so much for your help. I've been haunted with this problem for a long time. With your help, I discovered that it must be Windows XP service pack and happened upon some help that said if I were to hold the SHIFT key while clicking on the link, it would open and sure enough it did. Other times, it wouldn't work but I thought what if I press the CONTROL key and that worked by the Grace of God, I guess. Anyway, thank you ever so much. I wouldn't have even gotten this far if not for you.

Makes me wonder if you have some sort of pop-up killer on board. You shouldn't normally have to use this procedure but you do use the Ctrl key with "Popup Stopper Free Edition" (to over-ride it).
