Download SmitRem.exe and save the file to your desktop.
Doubleclick it and choose install. This will create a new folder on your desktop with the name smitrem.

Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

Restart your computer

After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;

Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;

Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".

Choose your usual account.

Open the smitRem folder, then double click the RunThis.bat file to start the tool. Follow the prompts on screen.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
Reboot back into Windows normal mode.

Do a search for "smitfiles.txt" usually found a C:\smitfiles.txt and post the results of the scan.

>Please download HJTsetup.exe from this link http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click "next" in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the "Select Addition Tasks" dialogue.
Put a check by "Create a desktop icon" then click "Next" again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click "Finish" and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the "Do a system scan and save a logfile" button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log and post it in this thread.

Do not fix anything yet unless you know what you are doing. This is a powerful tool that can crash the computer if used improperly.

Or just post a fresh Hijack This log if you already have HT installed.

Although disabling hp100.tmp would help the bad files removed by "smitrem" would probably reinstall it.

It appears that you have many items diabled in msconfig (maybe) or something is preventing Hijack This from seeng them.

First if you have all the normally run programs turned off in msconfig then turn them back on.

If that is not the case try this then post a new Hijack This log. Navigate to:

C:\Documents and Settings\Christodoulos\Desktop\HijackThis.exe

Open it and right click on the "dynimite" icon>click rename>rename it "hijack.exe"> click a blank spot on the screen. Run Hijack This and post a new log.

I think they are the same results because the problem might have been gone when i tried to fix it before coming here. That spyware cause me a lot of problems. It was saying messages on the bottom-right of my screen that i have infected etc and when i click it it goes to a website contains virus etc (McAfee Site Advisor warned me). Second problem was my home page. I couldn't change my home page (we are talking about Internet Explorer 6 only) and the home page was virus page saying to buy some security stuff. Then the final problem (and i think the most dangerous problem of the spyware) was the pop-ups. It was about casino, pornography, etc. So when i disabled "hp100.tmp" all these problems are gone. But i am still worried if i did any mistakes and the spyware still is hiding somewhere of my computer. But let's wait your opinion about it :)

Sorry that i have been days late to post but that spyware couldn't let me to turn on my laptop. First i could see the Modes (eg. Safe Mode) and when i was trying to select one mode i could see the windows xp loading, then i could see a blue screen with white letters saying about the error etc. but after 1 second it was disappearing and the my PC was restarting (and that's for all the Modes). So i didn't have any other option but to format it, so that's what i did. Next time i will be more carefully which sites i choose to view. Just posting to let know more information about this spyware. Thanks for helping me anyway. Good luck with computing.net
