i have a virus that has planted a yellow triangle w/ an exclamation point in the middle on my shortcut bar. it keeps popping up and giving me false IE warnings and prompting me to purchase their antivirus which is spyheal & pest trap. it also hijacked my browser page to www.safetyhomepage.com. i've run norton antivirus w/ system restore on & off. i've run spyware doctor, spysweeper, ad-aware, spyhunter, spynomore, avg antivirus, spybot & super antispyware. nothing gets rid of it. can someone please help? i will be eternally grateful.

Please post a Hijack This log so that the files associated with the virus/spyware/hijacker can be identified.
Please download HJTsetup.exe from this link http://www.thespykiller.co.uk/files/HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
Continue to click "next" in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the "Select Addition Tasks" dialogue.
Put a check by "Create a desktop icon" then click "Next" again.
Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
At the final dialogue box click "Finish" and it will launch Hijack This.
Click on the "Do a system scan and save a logfile" button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log and post it in this thread.Do not fix anything yet unless you know what you are doing. This is a powerful tool that can crash the computer if used improperly.

hi jabuck, thanks so much for your reply. i wanted to attach the HT file earlier but i didn't know how. thanks for that info. here it is:

hi jabuck, again thanks very much for your help. shortly after i posted the HT log, i went thru some of the other postings and read one that suggested rebooting windows into safe mode, then running norton antivirus. i put windows in safe mode but norton would not run. just b/c i didn't know what else to do, i ran the superantispyware program b/f rebooting and, to my surprise and total delight, it worked! no more browser hijack or false popups. however i am still leary of it coming back and so i have printed out your suggestion and will use it next. again, thanks very much. it is so comforting to know there are forums like this and people like you to turn to when things go wrong!!!

Hello jabuck,
It seems that we are dealing with the same problem as some of the folks from the messages above a few weeks ago. Last night a screen poped up from Safetyhomepage and tells us that we have an infection of PSW.x-Virtrojan and that we need to download their software to fix the problem. We ran Norton for viruses and it did not find any viruses. Can you help?
I'm looking for a wiring diagarm on ga-8simlnf motherboard if anyone can help me

Emil, start a new thread and state your problem but post no log until requested to do so. I feel certain that we can help.
Please remove you email address by clicking "my computing.net" on the left of the page, then just scroll down to and erase it. Some idiot is using it as a means of detering posters from getting help.
