Do I have any legal rights when my ISP trys to hack into my computer?

A recent hack was performed by my ISP on my computer. I am using Norton Personal Firewall 2003 this was the way that I traced it to their business. When it happened my system tray icon blinked for the firewall, I clicked on it and it told me that it was unable to locate on the map where the hack took place, but it did say that it was performed by my local ISP and gave me their #. I never had this happen before and I am wondering how many other times it has happened in the past before I got my firewall and to how many other users that do not use a firewall.

Is there anything that I can do about it?

Your ISP is not trying to hack you at all, this is normal traffic. There are many very good and very reasonable reasons for them to be checking on their user's status and usage. They can be checking for how many people are on-line and other service connections. Some ISP's even do their billing by charging for downloads, and the actual time people are on-line. You can set your firewall reporting rules up so that you are not bothered by these types of rports, but still be protected silently.

What most likely happened is one of your ISP's other subscribers tried to hack you. The reason it came back showing your ISP's information (e.g. phone number, address, etc.) is because ISP's have their range of IP addresses registered to them --- not their customers. I mean that you yourself personally have IP address ranges registered (most likely), but your ISP assigns you an address in their range because you are their customer.
