I download spywareblaster 2.5.3 a month ago. During that download I had to install msvbvm6o.dll and mscomctl.ocx as well. My spywareblaster icon did not show up on my desk top I had to drag it there. And is slow to open when I click on it. Soon after the download I got an Microsoft Internet Explorer error.

Details:Error signature
appname: iexplore.exe
modname:mshtml.dll

Which I just closed out.

Upon updating spywareblaster a month later I got it again which was followed by an

Iexplore error:

Details: the program caused an illegal operation.

Iexplore caused an invalid page fault in module at 0000:78581f00.

It went on repeatedly when I was trying to open my yahoo home page. So I ran a virus check at etrust and trend both came back clean. I checked my start up no new entries.
I ran regcleaner, spywareblaster, adaware, sfc, hwinfo /ui, scandisk, defrag, removed temp/temporary files/cookies/history and did a regsvr32 Mshtml.dll(not sure what this is I came across this in my search for answers) and then tried to shut down. I froze at the microsoft windows shut down screen. This shut down problem has never happened before. My PC was not running well even after I got it to shut down and rebooted. After I ran the same things over again and shut down it seems to be okay.

So my question is this spywareblaster related or just a coincidence?

I haven't heard or read of any problems like this with SpywareBlaster myself. You could post on the support forum for it here:

http://www.wilderssecurity.com/archive/index.php?board=34

The author of the software answers questions there.

suzi & wawadave,

For some reason I'm not able to view the wilders forum. When it first opens it's readable then when I scroll it all runs together. So I can't post there for help?
I took a print screen , but what I'm seeing didn't show up after I pasted it to this reply.

That is very strange. I can see them just fine. You could try posting on the forums at spywareinfo.com and/or tech guy support - I think Javacool reads and posts at those sometimes, or someone else at those forums might be able to help.

Good luck.

suzi,

Yes, I have never been able to view that forum. I can view the others you posted I lurk there often I don't post. I have done a wide search for the problem I had with no results. I hope it was just a glitch. I have updated since then with no errors. I thought about uninstalling spywareblaster and reinstalling it then decided to wait it out. I may do a restore if it happens again.

Thank you!

Hello,
This is the first time I hear a problem with that soft... it's true that during installation for the first time, some computers miss the DLL: msvbvm6o.dll, but except that fact nothing else, SpywareBlaster don't do nothing else than install a sort of "killbit" procedure which don't allow specifics cookie's spywares to install themself into your computer. The soft is working using a database of 430 updated signatures which can be updatated permanently .
Except that there is no modifications, neither configuration made into your system.
I believe better you have a problem directly with your system : Explorer.exe (windows) or internet explorer.exe ( your version of IE )
The first question is: did you made the windows update requered to protect your computer against failures ? this updates easy to find in the Microsoft web site are called "security's patchs" which protect your system against any attempt coming from the net, if not you have to do so...
But I will recommend first to reinstall all your windows in order to have a perfect clean register.......

Hello Imp,

Thanks for the info on spywareblaster. I like this software gotta keep some of the nasties away.

I went into details on what took place I thought it would be helpful.

My thoughts as you that it's a explorer thing. I wonder if upgrading to 6 would/may help? Or would cause more errors not starting with a clean system.

No, to the first question. After the last update I decided it was the last one. I understand the chances I take and have lurked in my forums on this issue. I do appreciate your opinion and advice on this!

I have a question can you tell me why after clicking on the spywareblaster icon it hangs before it opens?

Thank you!
