Yes, if housecall finds it, let housecall delete it. You can search the TrendMicro website for more info on what the virus/malware is.

You can also search the Symantec Security Response website.

This trojan loads into your active memory through a start command in the RUN key of the register, and it typically can be contacted through IRC chat rooms. Fortunately, it is one of the less harmfull varieties and is easy to kill.
I would suggest that you keep your AV program updated with the latest indexes; you were lucky this time.

You do not want to use two AV programs. Both may see it and not be able to complete the removal process because of the other program.

I believe having two AV's can also interfer with the scan.

BTW, this was a TROJAN and not a VIRUS. There is a difference. You may want to check into an anti-trojan program.

Avast is supposed to be good at also catching and removing trojans, but I do not know for sure.

Hi Michelle,

A good antivirus program will catch trojans.
There are Trojan-specific programs that are used to remove certain Trojans once they are in your system.

There is a difference between Spyware/Malware trojans and Viral Trojans. Get yourself a good Antivirus program and regular trojans will be nailed. Spyware is another matter.

You should have a firewall (Zone
Alarm is a good, free one), as well as an anti-Virus program. I don't know of any free AV proggies, but I am sure there are folks here that do. I have been using Trend Micro's PC-Cillin for years, and a virus or Trojan has never got past it yet. I have been updating the indexes for four years and still haven't been charged!
