is there a way to lock a certain folder

Specs: Windows 7, 2.333 GHz / 4gb
i share a computer with a roommate. there are some confidential documents that i would not like my roommate to see. i have thought of putting them as a protected zip file or make the folder hidden. but i work on those document very often. every time i work, i have to unzip them first or go to Folder Option to make show hidden folder. it is very inconvenient. is there anyway to protect a certain folder? like set a password on a folder? thanks

Right click on the folder,properties for the folder you wish to keep others from having access to, then click on the advaced tab at bottom of properties ! A box will open wit some options the last one is to encrypt the file or folder. In Windows help it says this about encrypting a file or folder

You may also want to read up on compressed an or zipped files ,I believe with these you may also set a password to keep them zipped ! I have never had the need to l
"lock" a file or folder however I know the ability exsist to do so with one or both of these options !
