Is There a Virus that causes beeps

HP Pavilion

Specs: Windows XP 2003, AMD turion 64
Please help because I'm not good with computers. Is there a virus that causes a computer to beep every four seconds? If so I might have it. If I turn off the speakers the beeping stops. What should I do? I can't listen to music or watch videos without the beeping.

is this a cdrom or dvd player you installed on the PC? Or has it always done that?

ok, you didn't specify it was a laptop....that helps.
If you are still in warranty try the HP techs. You said about a yr old.

Have you tried a restore to a time before the problem?
Also check in the device manager for any exclamation marks

Thanks XpUser4Real
I did the system restore to a week before the problem and the beeping stopped. I never even knew there was a program that did this.
