Have tried for the past two days to update Ad-aware (build 6.181), but when it tries to update it will only reach 5% then quit. Is Ad-aware having issues, or am I doing something wrong?

since the lavasoft homepage shows an update available for 6.181 as of 10/26/2004, I would say it is a supported version.

The download does hang at 5% for me too, so I may get the newer version.

Since it is hanging up at 5% for others I will wait to see if it is fixed within a week.

I thought that the newest SE version you had to pay for?

I still can't find the build 6.181 support forum.

The update causes an error because it's dated 2 yrs ago. (10/26/2002) Forget it and get the free SE version.

I could have used this post yesterday. Why don't we always have it this easy, with pictures at this site, to find these needed programs when we need them. This was easy to spot and access is right at your fingertips. Doing a search for them can sometimes be frustrating and time consuming. Wished I knew hao to add pictures. Oh well, maybe someday. lol

I'm not ignorant, I just need more learning!

There is no question about it!
When started, Ad-aware freezes with the message about an error when loading the ref file. Then, it shows there is a new update and when giving the ok to download it, I had the same 5% freeze when trying to update.

The plan is that support for Ad-Aware 6 is to be phased out the first week of November.

I solved the problem by uninstalling Ad-aware, then downloading the latest (Ad-Aware SE Personal edition 1.05) and it worked fine.
