Somebody on our network is using some kind of password sniffer. Today somebody changed my email password, and this is not possible unless my original password is known. I have not given my password to anybody and I suspect someone in my office as I check my mail only on my office PC. The local ISP does not support encrypted passwords so any one with an ethernet packet sniffer can see the passwords. I have tried this out using Ethereal Network Analyzer. Is it possible to find out if someone is using any sniffing or simillar applications?

though it is possible, the administrator of the network could oversee this and assist you in correcting your name and password , as well monitor anything suspicious running on system, if your mistaken, try restarting your system and logging in again, make sure caps-lock or other settings are not interfering...:)

There is no mistake. I had my password reset. I need a program/tool (freeware) to track the person who is running any sniffer programs.

Thanks

A firewall will possibly prevent an attack on my computer, but if someone is capturing the transmitted data from my PC, how is it possible to stop them and how can these people be identified.

Thanks

It is the office. We donot have a system admin as such. I suspect that someone is sniffing around and I would like to track them down.

Thanks
