I have AVG free and keep it up to date but is it any good? I mean, if they also have a version you have to pay for then the free one has to be lacking in some way right? What is the difference? Are there extra features?

I have AVG free edition too, I also have a firewall from sygate and the usual like adaware spybot spygaurd, I also regularly scan with housecall online. Having a combination of programs is the best way to go, no one program is perfect. There is nothing wrong with AVG free edition, but it alone is not enough

The paid version has support, the free version has zero support. Functionality I believe is the same. Is it any good? Well, yeah, I think so. It isn't great, but it's free.

Free Version isn't too good, updates further apart so you are in a bigger time frame for infection. AVG 7 has some more features that's all but it updates a lot not just the defs but the program itself.
Summary: Does anyone know with certainty if this new AVG Free Edition is really Free? Everywhere I look on the AVG site it implies that it expires after 30 days. Is this what happens or am I reading into this ...
