I use all the spyware tools and do all the updates but it just aint enough. I am so sick of it! No privacy at all!!!!! I can be running a clean spyware free pc according to adaware and spyware blaster a going and all and I can still google for subjects and then later go to another site and dang if it hadnt got a ad there for something I had googled for. Even though google doesnt leave any spyware detecting cookies it appears it does send information somehow so it can target you with advertising at other websites. Theres just no way out of it, it sucks a major root!!!

Girls just wanna have fun! Im out to help them all I can!

Sp 1 or 2? Also, is that a google tool bar? If so, it probably has spyware in it.
I'm using SP2 and don't get any unwanted pop-ups...works great.
Alternate browsers are not the answer.

Happy Holidays to ALL!! I try to give advise on things that have happened to my PC. Glad to have a chance to help you.

How much are you paying per search on "Goggle"?

Or any other search engine you use?

I bet its way under a dollar per search session. At those prices, they still have to pay for all that computer equipment, disk storage, programmers, network bandwidth, etc., and there are a lot of advertisers willing to pay more than you for a little "special consideration". They are just "helping" you find what you are looking for.

Forget cleaning out the cookies; just don't accept them unless you have to!

Set the cookie handling preferences on IE or Mozilla to prompt you when a site wants to set a cookie. If you want that site to remember info about you then allow it, otherwise deny it. It's very little hassle and might help you.

I have Firefox set to deny third-party cookies and block ads with the adblock extension.

I have sp2! I would venture to say not even accepting any cookies and it still would happen! You just cant slip around on the internet without being noticed!

When you give every site you visit your IP, OS, and browser, how do you expect to "slip around...without being noticed?"

I don't care about a few stray cookies. I block the ads anyway.

Doc, you got it right. Unfortunately right now there is no way to stop it, and I see a bunch of bureaucrats in Washington rubbing their hands together, looking to enact Federal Regulation of the Internet. This is the big excuse they have been looking for.

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day;
Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime;
Then industry pollutes the water and kills all the fish.
