Maybe you can see something in here that could explain why my scroll bar will scroll to far and miss stopping where is should stop.
If I use the arrows on the scroll bar, I can control it fine, but While I'm typing now in this box, if I click inside the scroll box it will go all the way down to the bottom (and this is a long message) and when I try to bring it back up to the top it will jump up just a little then fall right back down to the bottom again. I have to use the arow up and down on my keyboard to have good control over the page or this message box. This doesn't seem to happen in windows, just on the internet. I did notice that this started to happen sometime after the last windows update.
Last night I ran my Ad-ware and Spybot and quarantined all that the programs had check markes in front of them. I went into safe mode and did scan disk and defrag last night. Then this morning I upgraded to the 30 day free trial of Zone alarm and then I ran Norton antivirus scan. Norton didn't find anything.
I'm not getting disconnected from the internet every few minutes like I was before, but I am still having trouble with the scrolling.
Here is my log file.

Strange. I have noticed the same exact problem with the scroll bar in entry boxes recently, and also associated it with the latest Windows Update security patch.
When viewing a long text in a text entry box, the first pass through it works OK. However, once I reach the bottom it is difficult to scroll back up and have the slider work correctly. I can click on the slider and slide it up to the point I want and release it. But as soon as the mouse cursor away from the slider, it drops to the bottom of the box.
However, it does not occur all the time. For example it seems to be working OK for this entry. I have seen it occur running Adobe viewing a large PDF fine in a Internet Explorer window also.

Lots of people (including me) are experiencing this after installing one of last week's MS critical updates. Here is a copy and paste from the MS Community Newsgroups - I'm sorry I don't have the link but I did save this because I posted it on another forum. Hopefully, MS is "working on" a fix for their latest "fix":

I would think you got this effect from the security update MS03-048/KB824145.
Microsoft is aware of this problem with KB824145 and looking into it.Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (824145)
