I recently downloaded a file and it executed a program on my computer called internet explorer secure bar which has caused me a lot of headache. An Icon on my task pane alerts me that I have unwanted spyware on my computer and when I click the button, Internet Explorer pops up with a website to download Virus Protect Pro. All attempts to remove this program the regular way have failed. I am sure that this is some kind of spyware or adware, but have no idea how to get rid of it. Can anyone help.
Do you have spybot?.... if you have, open it and and click on the "tools" option (bottom left) then click on "systen start up", left hand side, then click on "export" and save this .txt file somewhere easy for you find.
Copy and paste the contents into this thread.
I need to see if this malware is starting up when you start your pc or when you open explorer.
Virus Protect Pro is a rogue anti-spyware utility, the company also uses exploits and deceptive advertising to sell there products as you have found out.
Go Here and Download RogueRemover, Virus Protect Pro is on it's list of targeted programs for removal
If any advice helps, please post back as it might help others.
