Comment: My dad has some problems with a PC in his office. Even when he isn't using iexplorer, but for example using Word, he gets all kinds of iexplorer pop-ups. He's a bit paranoid, so he won't really let me touch his computer, but I already deleted some auto-installed files in his Program Files folder (like 'HOT_GAY_GUYS.exe ...), but it doesn't seem to have helped much. Would using Netscape be the answer? Or can this be solved with a Pop-up killer? Thanks

Reply: (edit)Try getting and using Adaware and Spybot that are availble from http://wilders.org/ There are some other good preventive programs available at that website too.

Reply: (edit)If you're thinking about a different browser, I would suggest looking at Mozilla-Firebird. Mozilla is the development version of Netscape, so you get all the new features and bug fixes, and Firebird is a much less bloated browser-only version of Mozilla. In addition to blocking popups, you also get tabbed browsing and better CSS support than IE6. I've had more rendering issues with IE6 than Mozilla, so don't let people tell you "most web sites are designed for IE, so why use something else?" Also, you don't have all the security issues of IE. Even when there is a security problem, it actually gets fixed, and usually it's much less serious than IE security issues because Firebird isn't integrated into the OS.
