Comment: Whenever I start my PC the IEXPLORE.EXE starts running in the background slowing down the system ... IEXPLORE.EXE runs only for 5 seconds in a given instance then it ends itself and starts again and this keeps on going. How can I remove this malfunction ? Thanks Arun

Reply: As you probably know: explorer.exe = Windows Explorer etc iexplore.exe = Internet Explorer iexplorer.exe = Virus Best to double check that it is iexplore.exe that you are seeing while you are awaiting advice. DerekW

Reply: Derek, Its IExplore.EXE and not the other one. Thats why im confused. None of the video players in the system are working and the moment i try to open up a video file in Windows Media Player, the EXPLORER.EXE crashes and then retrieves back. Im sure that its due to the IEXPLORE.EXE. Any help in this regard is highly appreciable. Cheers Arun Thanks Arun

Reply: You could try backing up all of your files and re formatting your computer. That would ensure any viruses have been removed. unistudent

Reply: Reformatting sounds like overkill at this stage - keep it as last resort. There is "last known configuration" and "system restore" which would come before reformat. I would hold on to see if there are any further inputs before embarking on any of this. DerekW

Reply: Hi i have the same problem, from my check it is an instance of Trojan.Lozyt which created (in my case) those files: 1. JMRaidTool.exe [created in %WINDIR%\system32] 2. svcipa.exe [created in %WINDIR%\temp] 3. lsasss.exe (don't confuse with lsass) The latter is possibly the sasser worm which was somehow used to exploit the LSASS windows vulnerability, in order to plant the actual trojan. Then it registry entry was made in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run\ lsasss.exe - Lexmark_X79-55 and the JMRaidTool.exe Delete those registry entries, and delete all of those suspicious 36KB files created the day the problem appeared. Fix those and you will be fine.
