My Comp has started to run much slower and when I pull up my LAC Status it tells me that I am constantly Uploading and Downloading at a slow and sporatic rate. I have Norton 360 on my Comp., it is up to date and says everything is fine. I also have run Threatfire and the only thing that keeps comming up when I run that is CTFMON.EXE.

What might be causing this and what can I do to get rid of it? Thanks in advance

I don't personally think you have anything to concern yourself with there.What you are seeing is normal network chatter which is both minimal and sporadic.

My own opinion would be to ditch Norton 360 and opt for :

1.a) Install another software firewall solution.

b) If you aren't worried about the outbound traffic from your laptop and only concern yourself with the inbound then a firewall/router setup would potentially work fine for you.

This solution wouldn't be advisable if for instance you roam using wireless.

2. In addition look towards running perhaps something like NOD32 as an antivirus engine - although it recieved a lot of bad press in the past for not playing well with others it is a very high performing solution.

To answer the question on CTFMON, this is a standard windows component used in various user input methods such as Handwriting or speach recognition etc...

This is not something which you should worry about looking to remove.
