Comment: i have an adsl 256kbs connection. it is behind a wirless router. then just one utp cable to my computer, it runs fine. but when i play bf or similar online games it runs like crap if theres even the tinnyest of strain on the wirless conection. e.g i could have no other apps running except bf2 and my gay brother using somthing as simple as msn messenger on his laptop and my game will run like crap. is there any way i can improve this without changing my connection? aafter all its rather pointless having wirless if noone can use it. also another questtion when i use p2p programs or similar why can i only download at 30/kbs when my connection is 256k/bs I agree Computing.net does need an edit button.

Reply: (edit)Have you forwarded the correct ports for your game in the router? What is the upload speed like on your connection? As for P2P your download is probably 30KiloBYTES per second and your internet connection is measured in KiloBITS. A byte is 8 times larger than a bit so 256/8=32. This is about right, it's not going to go much faster. Also, sorry if i have this all wrong here, but don't use "gay" as a derogatory term it makes you sound childish. Reply: (edit)Heres a link about a problem similar to your own but not entirely the same. http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,13930639?hilite=bf2+punkbuster It seems you may not have to forward ports afterall unless you are actually hosting the game. Roughly how many people are playing on the server you are and does this make a difference to your gameplay experience? Mattmatt@bbcomputing.co.uk www.bbcomputing.co.uk

Reply: (edit)i ussaly play on 64 servers but at times 32. even so at times it does lag alot. does any one no how much bandwith bf2 uses? and msn, and windows msger. as if i can find what uses less i may be able to decided what uses less and tell my brother to use the lesser. I agree Computing.net does need an edit button.
