Is it ok to install more than 2 anti-virus? Cos I have a pre-installed norton installed in my PC, however heard from my friends that AVG is good. Also heard that Housecall is better. Not very sure which is the best.
1)Can I install more than 1 anti-virus?
2)Will there be any conflicts in the anti-virus.
3)Which anti-virus is recommended?

hi andiz,
in order:
no
yes
nod32 if you want to pay for the best
avg if you want best of free
all the best,
murve

No best,only better
Symantec is one of the famous AV Company,it is no problem to install it.You can install more than 1 av,but don't open realtime scan at the same time.
Send suspecied file to me with compressed file.my email:virus@shanguo.com

Not sure if you can translate their cryptographic messages, so lemme give it a go:
1. Despite what murve says, you can install more than one antivirus, easily. For instance, I myself have both Norton and Nod32 installed. However..
2. To prevent conflicts, make sure you don't have two "real-time scanners" (for Nod32, this is known as "AMON"; for Norton, it's called "Auto-Protect") running at the same time - the reason I have Nod32 installed is because Norton's Auto-Protect is a real memory hog, so I have that disabled.
3. Again, Nod32 is good, if you're willing to pay. If you'd like freeware, don't expect too much - AVG can (sometimes) detect viruses, but it does a horrible job of getting rid of them once they've infected your computer. If you're intent on not paying, I'd recommend something like AVG to scan any newly downloaded files for viruses, as well as a weekly full system scan by any one of various free online scanners (housecall comes to mind).Hope that helps.

My quick answer would also be no. I have seen many conflicts with antivirus, especially Norton Internet Security 2004.
BUT...I like to live dangerously. I have installed AVG 6 Free Edition in addition to Norton Antivirus 2003. Both with real-time on.
The only conflict I had was when NAV2003 would do a system scan AVG would generate a malicious script warning. But the scan would finish and AVG would not continue the warning.
Otherwise there were no noticable problems.
