well, i have a inspiron 6000 and i ran out of norton, a few days ago, i have just renewed, now the problem is this: i had allthese pops ups come up with that fault noise, loads 0f them kept apearing so many so i could not close them in time as they were apearing so fast, so i forced shutdown (held power button till shutdown) then re booted it, put in user password. and it came up with think point, has a windows emblem just before the name, it has 2 options to which only 1 is available to me they are as folows: standard (or normal) start up, and safe start up, i cannot click on normal, standard only safe, this just brings a whole scan on, and i am asked to buy this anti spyware malware thing i cannot pronoucne it, the emblem is a red man with spy glass, its saying i need it, but the only thing is it directs me to a webpage to buy this, but i only get internet as computer loads, laptop doesnt get anytime just goes straight to this point thing, so page doesnt load, i cannot do anything, is there away i can do something without going for full reset, i have things i cannot have scrubbed, if not, as painfull as it is, how do i get out of this? thank you all for the time you give.

Can you boot into safe mode and run a virus scan?

i have no icons like internet or nortons just blank when i click the x, and safemode is the only option highlighted that i am able to use.

I would recommend reinstalling Windows. If there are any files you need to save, they can be access using the UBCD for Windows. Hopefully, you got recovery disks. (most dells have recovery disks, XP sp2 is green, XP sp3 is blue, Vista is black, 7 is green or is it blue?)
