Comment:

Turned on my computer tonight and I'm infected with constant pop-ups telling me to download Antivirus Pro 2010. It won't let me turn the Windows firewall back on.

Also, I once again have a problem I had earlier this year with search engines (Google, Yahoo, and even Bing I think) getting redirected.

Help cleaning up & fixing this ASAP would be appreciated. Thanks.

Also you may use MalwareBytes anti-malware to remove this infection.

I downloaded & updated MBAM (had it in the past, told me the setup file I had was corrupted, so downloaded it again). Tried to start the quick scan & it crashed/stopped, telling me:

C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe

Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.

Going to try the "automatic" removal from the other site which said download Spyware Doctor, depending how long that will take. I'm on dial-up.

Spyware Doctor found 241 infections but it won't remove them unless I purchase the product. How do I clean this up without purchasing anything?

mfh72,
Try going in your C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware folder and right click on the mbam.exe choose rename and rename it but make sure you keep the .exe extension (e.g. clean.exe ),then try to run the Malwarebytes program again. I woudn't trust those so called 241 infections that Spyware Doctor found as they're out to sell software.

Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use.

try start/run/msconfig and uncheck ALL start-up items. Then reboot.
Try running Trojan remover, it's a free trial and will remove all it finds.

If the problem still persists after running it, you may want to try unhackme which is also a 30 day fully functional trial.

Use the beginners guide on the left of the download page if you need help.

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

Tried downloading HijackThis (which I had but thought maybe it was a newer version to try). Installed but won't start.
Tried rebooting in safe mode but neither HJT nor MBAM will start.
start>run>msconfig>startup
unchecked braviax (bravia.exe) and something called dumprep 0 -k because that looked suspicious too...

I restarted the computer just to see what happened & looking at msconfig>startup again, the ones I unchecked are still unchecked...but there's a 2nd checked braviax! I'm not getting the pop-up warning to download their crap (fake security warning) but I can't get rid of the crap they already put on here

I have SuperAntiSpyware on my computer too from past problems but when I just tried to click that, as with HJT & MBAM...NOTHING happened. I get the installation warning but then that's it. So I can't install or re-install it.

Anything I tried to download didn't work. SpywareDoctor wants you to buy it to clean things.

Still not sure what to do next or how to get rid of this crap.

Can you do that, or it's the same situation ?

# 1 - Search Infections

Download "Random's System Information Tool (RSIT)" by random/random and save it on your Desktop.

- Rename RSIT.exe in blbala.exe

- Execute blbala.exe to start RSIT.
- Clic on Continue at screen Disclaimer and let the values as default
- If the tool HijackThis is not present or not detected RSIT dowload it, you must accept the license.
- When the analyst is finity, two reports pop up

Please paste this reports in your next reply.

If it doesn't work, try in safe mode.

Sorry for my future orthographic faults, English is not my mother tongue ;=)
