I have a compressed win.ini file infected with the W32.Opaserv virus. I have a totally up-to-date copy of Norton AntiVirus. I have booted my computer in safe mode, and then ran the virus checker still with no success. Norton is unable to quarantine or delete the file. Any ideas on this would be very appreciated. Thanks!

Can you manually delete it? Have you tried renaming it and deleting it? Have you gone to the Symantec website for the detailed removal instructions? Use the search function, under security at the top of this page, and there are many posts that have detailed steps that you will have to use to gid rid of this very difficult problem. Be sure to monitor and use your firewall to stop reinfection. Please post back if you do not find the solution. Take care and all the best!

Thank you for your help. I found instructions to remove the unnecessary filename after the = sign on the run line in the wini.file. I didn't realize you could access it from the run command. Thanks again.
