Hi!

I've looked at the other posts and this one seems to be different. Here are the symptoms, can someone tell me if they know a solution?

1. When I try to move a window by clicking and holding on the menu bar, the window maximizes instead of moving - some of the time.

2. When I click once to select a file, and I'm set up for double-click, the file opens up instead of selecting - some of the time.

3. When my mouse passes over a button, the button gets clicked without me clicking. This is not as often as the others but enough for me to notice it.

The key is that it's the mouse and it's only some of the time, about 35%.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Karin

Check for excessive spy and adware.

Now, what kind of mouse is it? PS2, wireless or USB, optical or ball type. Try to borrow a different mouse to see if there is still a problem.

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Thanks XPuser4real:

It's a PS2 ball type mouse. I'm going to see if I can find another mouse to try.

Bofra,

The settings are correct, it works most of the time it's an inconsistant problem so sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. That's why I'm in the security section, it seems like something is messing with my mouse functions.

Thanks!

I would maybe invest in a USB optical mouse, they are real inexpensive any more and not half the pain of ball type mice.

Have you removed the ball and cleaned the rollers with a qtip and rubbing alcohol? That might give you more life out of it.
In fact, I would go to Walmart, pick one up and try it. It can always be returned if that's not the problem....post back, ok?
Thanx

Hopefully my advice will help you...Please post back with your results....thanks

Sounds like 'sticky buttons' - which can happen with any kind of mouse. Dirty rollers only affect mouse motion

It is possible to disassemble and clean the housing, and/or use "head cleaner" spray on the microswitches

Not, in my opinion, any sort of "security problem"

We've heard that a million monkeys at a million keyboards could produce the complete works of Shakespeare; now, thanks to the Internet, we know that is not true
