Hi, I'm having huge problems with my computer. Last night after several hours of using my computer normally, the message "Shutdown initiated. Process lsass.exe was terminated unexpectedly with code 128. System shutdown in 1 minute." Appeared and my computer proceded to shutdown. Now, everytime I turn my computer on this happens everytime I turn it on. The strange thing is, if I turn it on with my ethernet cable unplugged, I am fine. Adaware and symantec antivirus didn't turn anything up. Help please!!!

thanks in advance

Sounds like you've got the Sasser worm.

LINK

After you go to the link above, download and run the Stinger tool which has been updated to help remove Sasser.

Hey, thanks for the advice, but sadly Stinger didn't find anything... Anything else I can try?

Symantec has a removal too for Sasser Worm. But I bet you have Sasser.B

good luck!

LOL...sorry, lets try this again:

Sasser / Sasser.B Worm removal tool

Try the Symantec removal tool...Stinger may not yet catch both variants.

I'm a bit confused, is this symantec link for symantec anti-virus software virus definitions?

For the record, I've done the fix recommended by www.f-secure.com, downloading the windows update and running their fixer which supposedly fixes both sasser and sasser-B, and it still isn't fixed.

no, the symantec link is for a stand-alone removal utility designed to eliminate Sasser and Sasser.b

there will be an obscure link in the artile that my link points to called REMOVAL TOOL

you will have to skim the page to find it

look for this line in the article to download the removal tool:

Download the FxSasser.exe file from: http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/FxSasser.exe. Note: Version 1.0.1 (As shown in removal tool dialog title bar) provides support for both W32.Sasser.B.Worm and W32.Sasser.Worm.
