Subject: images don't show up on IE, slow IE
OS: Intel XEON 2GH
CPU/Ram: 1GB
Comment:

Startng this afternoon, images are not downloading when viewing most (increasingly more) webpages. Additionally, while downloading a webpage (unsuccesfully), the pointer arrow momentarily chages to an icon of a hand holding a star. To top it all off, everything is running sluggishly.

What evil has found residence in my system?!?!? I run Spybot at all times. Have also run several virus scans and CWS and nothing seems to show up.

HELP!

Any thoughts?

Try going into add/remove in Control Panel and choosing IE Uninstall, this however will not uninstall IE because you can never get rid of IE. This will simply let you choose to "Fix IE" which will reset any "evil" in your browser! If this does not work, then go to www.avantbrowser.com which is a small browser that uses the IE settings already on your PC, this little gem of a browser is more reliable and more customizable than IE anyway. Good Luck!

Have you run something like TrojanHunter?

With your icon changing, I definetely think you have something going on.

As for slow performance .. do get Crazy Browser; it's miles faster than IE and much more stable!

but clean your 'puter first. :-)

THIS IS A FOLLOW UP TO MY ORIGINAL POST.

One thing I didn't mention is that if I reboot and go online, everything is fine for the first few webpages. But then everything breaks down again. I thought perhaps somehow I was having a cache problem, but not even the images from web pages just visited (before the problem begins) show up.

I followed fireking21's advice, didn't give me the "fix IE" option but did go through some process, made me reboot, but the problem is still there.

Have not run Trojan Hunter specifically but have run so many other things at this point, I don't know if I need to be going around purchasing every hunter and cleaner out there just to have no result.

Any other thoughts out there?

Thanks,

Victor

Victor, Open up your computer case and make sure that all your fans (CPU, Power Supply, and video card [if it has a fan]) are running. It could be an overheating problem.
