Hello people,
I would like to ask you guys a question. Since I installed zonealarm firewall, when I leave the "Stop All Internet Activity" on for a while it drops my IP assigned by DHCP and gives me a private address that won't connect. Is there any way to confire zonealarm or my computer to not use the private IP. Or maybe set it up where the IP is the same. I tried to do it myself but I don't know what port, or DNS server to use. If you guys could help me out I would be so thankful. Who ever thought about making this kind of site was a genius. You people are so helpful. Thank you in advance.

Gil

My first thought is this: If you have the stop all internet activity option on, you cannot connect to the internet at all. That's why it drops your IP.

Why are you having the stop internet activity on if you are using the web?

Suzi is correct,Stopping internet activity is just that. You might try setting it up to a higher level of security, but the default settings should be sufficient

Yeah, I think that your right. The reason that I have the Stp all internet on is I just got over being annoyed by someone on the net. He was writing in my e-mail, and I think that he had something to do with my cd drive being removed from my computer. Do you think that I will be safe if I just raise the security settings. It took me a long time to fix all of my problems. Hey thank you for the patients, I probably seem like a child to you guys.

hi,
Just set your internet security level to high and then go to
www.grc.com
and run the SHIELDS UP test of your firewall. If it shows that port 5000 is open, there is a way to close this WIDE OPEN PORT!! While at the site read about the newest XP HOLE!!!. there is about a 30 second fix for it on the site.
Just an idea,
XDon
