Ad-aware is good but does miss some stuff. I also run Spybot Search and Destroy. You can get it here: http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=download Once you have installed the program, be sure to check for, download all updates. restart spybot and run its scan...remove all found in red. Then in spybot click the immunize button, click ok at the prompt, click immunize. In the same spybot window scroll down to "permanantly block bad downloads for internet explorer" click "install" Another good program to download and install...it will stop most of these bad downloads. If you dont use your office apps all the time you can speed up startup time and reduce resorce hogging by removing these entries: O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Find Fast.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\FINDFAST.exe O4 - Global Startup: Office Startup.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\OSA.exe The ofice apps can be started manualy by start> programs. If you did not use spybot to lock internet explorer settings....remove these entries as well...otherwise leave alone.
