Problems with Internet Explorer (v6). As a result of Adware when you launch IE it goes to the home page then constantly opens and closes various advertising pages. This will stop after 60s until you move to a new site where upon it all starts again.

I have run Spybot, Adaware and PestPatrol and cleared out all the Adware out but I cannot stop the problem, I also have a hardware firewall with all but esential ports closed. I have used Sysinternals AutoRuns to see what runs at starup to no avail and have also resorted to HiJackThis. Sadly the latter reports much the same as Autoruns.

Any suggestions it it driving me nuts, I am now using Mozilla Firefox as a workaround.

I know this sounds obvious, but have you restored the changes caused by Ad-Aware? All changes are reversible. Click on the Quarantine List, then click Restore. Just make sure you restore only what started the problems; all Quarantine files have a creation date.

Hey I think what he is saying is that even after using all the spyware tools he is still getting adware pop ups.

So that means that you have something that they cant remove.

It should show up in Hi Jack this. Why dont you try posting it and we can have a look..

Hi Robbie/Solarian

Thanks for the comments. I have had a read and another go with HiJackThis and removed a couple of ie helpers, lo and behold all is well(at last).

A bit of a frustrating problem but its all good knowledge at the end of the day.

Cheers
