same old with ie.copy and paste the bottom link for all details.

nternet Explorer has become an even bigger security risk--even under Windows XP SP2--with the publication of a new and extensive exploit.

Security researchers have warned that the exploit, which takes advantage of known loopholes in SP2, could allow an attacker to run script code on a user's system via a specially crafted Web page.

Runs for the hills. IE is a very safe browser and I refuse to stop using it. There is no such thing as a secure OS nor is there such a thing as a secure browser. Never will be. Educate yourself about the browser you use no matter which one you choose to use.

Knowledge is power and knowing is half the battle.

Yes, GI Joe taught me that phrase.

I use ie myself,"and common kttd".Any security expert knows that Ie has always been, and will be a browser with many holes. And i know that mozilla is the same, and netscape is the same, but not everyone is a security expert, and not everyone will be,and Ie will continue to lead the way with the most security threats, and exploits."I myself",i dont really care. You use whatever tickles your feathers. If you like Ie?then use it.If you like mozilla?then use it."But remember this".All of the pc help forums were, and will be established mainly because of all the Ie security holes. Most of the security experts around the web are now recommending alternative browsers for safer surfing until ie gets there brains rolling, and until then??????? then there is nothing wrong on recommending a alternative browser,or until the other browsers catch up to ie security holes.

Anyone can exploit ANY browsre or OS if they want. It is always hilarious to hear the anti-MS people slammin IE or MS in general about he exploits when the truth is, if the browser they used were more mainstream, there would be JUST AS MANY exploits known. You will always have security issues on a browser as it has to communicate and in doing so, there are openings. You integrate a browser into an OS and well, you'll have breaches. No way around it but, every OS MS has released in the past few years has been better than the last (with the exception of ME as I realy only use NT based OS) and people will always just want to gripe to seem as if they know more than everyone else.

Computing.Net was not founded on the fact that the IE has holes. I started with Computing.Net back in 1996 and I was moderator of another web site until Justin, the site owner asked me to join him here. Been here ever since.

Now, are new web sites created to address the issues? Maybe. Everyone like to pick on Microsoft and they love to pick on IE but when you show people the truth about a browser such as Firefox or you show people how insecure Linux truly is and trust me folks, it is far from bullet proof.

What makes someone a security expert? Most folks give that title to there ownself. Give me a computer that runs Windows and someone that uses IE and I will secure it. I will allow that system to go anywhere on the net and not worry. Does that make me an expert? Hell no.

I'm just going to sit back, laugh and I can't wait for the big day.

Weren`t you the one that wrote this Quote:

Knowledge is power and knowing is half the battle.

Take a peek around the net and visit atleast 10 websites and see were most of the pc security related issues come from?,and were most people go for help?Do i have to give you the awnser? Most of the pc related help that is needed by people is for pests of all sorts that like to take advantage of ie flaws, holes, vulnerabilties.I use Ie myself, and knowledge is power in knowing that ie has some serious issues then most browsers."I myself",i dont care if a get a virus,or spyware. This is the was windows/ie is,and i guess we have to move on and except the facts as they truly are.

Did you look at the date of that article? Five months old is far from topical. I'm sure that there has been patches since then.

I use Mozilla. I prefer Mozilla and it does stop some of the annoyances that plague the internet. Yet still, my router block list continues to grow.

Speaking of yesteryear's toys.... does anyone remember those plastic parachutists figures, where you would roll up and fold the parachute tightly and then stuff it into a hollowed compartment in his back... then toss the little guy way way up into the air and hope the parachute would deploy on his way down ??? I can't remember what that little guy was called though... anyone remember?

Gee, I must be really showin' my age now, lol.. Goodnight all...

and the fun of taping those to a skyrocket and watching it explode above the neighbors house.
of course after blowing that up , we's send up a few hot wheels or whatever else was available
at the time. :)
a browser back then was someone who went to the drug store and stood at the magazine rack without buying anything.

Speaking of toys from the good 'ol days....there was a web site out a few years ago.....justliketv.com or liketv.com something like that.

Anyway....it had tons of streaming movies, sitcoms, and old toy comercials from the late 60's and 70's. Watching the old Hasbro and Mattel comercials for things like Bean Bag Tick Tac Toe, Connect Four, and several others was a kick. Aside from the great nostalic feelings....I was utterly AMAZED at the simplicity of the toys of my (our?) youth. Most were nothing but very simple molded plastic contraptions...with no batteries and few moving parts. And these were the MAJOR toys...the BIG SELLERS evidenced by the fact that they were worthy of the time and expense to create TV comercials for to begin with. My how times have changed. Rememeber the top-of-the-heap coolest toy.....Evil Kenevil's stunt bike and travel van?

Can you image what the kids of today would think of such primitive devices?

....and, I use Mozilla as much as possible (less integration with the OS = less risk, imo)

One of my favorite play toys was my brother's Smash-up derby set. We used to drive my mother nuts playing with that on the kitchen floor. Oh, that was fun...
