IE 6.0 is taking forever to switch between webpagesm where is used to d/l pages very fast. CPU load and cable modem speed only have low load...something is holding up the changes between different webpages. Is a prog forcing IE to contact a server which isn't available so IE has to wait for it to time-out? I have spent so many hours on this problem...used latest versions of spybot, ad-aware, avg virus scan etc etc...no improvement. Can anyone PLEASE help me keep my sanity and give a hint to solving this?
Many thanks in advance,
LucBelow is the spybot S and D report :

Do you have a router in place?
The MTU settings can cause those symptoms.
Also, run TRACEROUTE and BLACKHOLE test from DOS prompt or www.samspade.org and if in fact the slow-down originates from your PC (in the first hops) then I'd examine your TCP/IP settings.
There is a broadband optimizer DRTCP021.exe
available as a FREE download.

Hi EC,
I do have a router but i don't have any problems with other computers connected to that same router (Linksys BEFSR41 FastEthernet/DSL router). I went to spade.org and did what u suggest but i don't see anything unusual. Since every other computer using the same router and internet access works fine, the problem must be inside the computer itself. I have deleted IE and reinstalled it. My best guess is that it is some malicious code that tries to contact a (unreachable) server to mess with the webpage content that i intend to reach. In that case IE would first have to timeout on the malicious server before it can move on.
Isn't there a prog that can tell me which internet connections that are attempted to be made but fail? I have IP-tools.
Thank you for ur help, i have added spade.org to my favs ;-)

Hi-there is a patch located for this very problem at www.microsoft.com go to downloads and run a check on your system for what needs to be updated......I cant remember what the reason was,but I had to do the very same thing for the very same reason a month ago or so.....hope it helps;)
Jeanette
