Whenever I launch IE, it seems to start loading for a few seconds and then it terminates. Not only does IE shut down but the monitor screen flickers off. If I press any key on my keyboard, the monitor comes back on but IE is definitely shut down. If I attempt to launch IE again, the same thing happens. I have access to Netscape to browse but it's very, very slow. I ran Adaware and NAV but it didn't solve the problem. Does anyone know what is happening? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Have you went int the control Panel/Add&remove prgms/and double clik on the ie6 and choose repair option?
" IF IT AINT BROKE - LEAVE IT ALONE "

Do I know exactly whats happening no,but it is likely third party software, spyware or viruses.
Scan for viruses and spyware on pandasoftware.com and houscall.trendmicro.com
start and run and type inetcpl.cpl and click ok ,delete cookies files and clear history and click settings and view objects and remove all the downloaded program files.
click connections tab and lan settings and make sure no proxies selected.
advanced tab and uncheck enable third party browser extensions.
download update and run microsoft antispyware and spybot search and destroy.
test if ie stays open in safe mode with networking.
try those steps and post the results, if you have viruses how much spyware found etc.
does ie stay open in safe mode with networking.

Ok... so I deleted all the cookies and files and cleared the history. I removed all the downloaded program files. i checked the connections tab and lan settings and no proxies were selected. I didn't do the Panda Active or the Trend Micro scan but I ran Adaware and something worked. I no longer have the problem of IE shutting down when I launch it. However, can I feel secure knowing I'm safe or should I do something further? Thanks so much for your response and I appreciate your help!

I followed sampson1's advice -- all of it. Thank you, thank you, and thank you again. IE is working again!
