IE only works in safe mode

November 21, 2012 at 08:48:02
Specs: Windows 7 32 bit, i5 2.53GHz / 4GM RAM
Running a Windows 7 (32bit) machine. Internet Explorer crashes upon open. It tries to load and then throws says not responding and sometimes freezes the PC.

Internet Explorer will run in safe mode. I've gone into msconfig and disabled everything except MS services to see if something was conflicting, but still it crashes. I've also disabed the add-ons in IE and reset IE, but still no go unless in safe mode. However, Firefox and Chrome work perfectly fine in any mode. Also, I've tried using all the fix it tools from MS and still nothing.

Have run every virus scanner under the sun in safe mode, normal mode, and also as a bootable recovery CD. Nothing found. Also made sure IE wasn't blocked by Firewall.

I have spent about 5 hours trying everything I could think of and what I could find on the web. Really need some help. Thanks in advance!

Is it IE8 or IE9?

Did you try uninstall & re-install?

I assume you've seen this:

Always pop back and let us know the outcome - thanks
