Comment:

I recently had Spy Falcon on my computer. I thought I had it removed, but it came back. I'm not sure if I have it removed now or not, but my internet explorer home page can't be changed from http://www.guarduptodate.com/.
I followed the directions for removing spy falcon from http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic43659.html
I ran Spybot and AdAware letting them fix the problems. And I ran Panda, manually deleting the problems it found. I don't know what to do from here.

Please Help!

Please post a Hijack This log so that the files associated with the virus/spyware/hijacker can be identified. You can download Hijack This at this link http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ then place it into a folder of it's on, such as C:\HJT, so that back up copies can be made and not clutter your desktop or other folders and the backup copies of deleted items can be easily located if needed.

Once saved double click HijackThis.exe, and press "Scan". When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents into the text editor at this forum.

Do not fix anything yet unless you know what you are doing. This is a powerful tool that can crash the computer if used improperly.

We will need a few tools but do this first and post the report:

Please download SmitRemFix from this link http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php Then extract the contents to your desktop into it's own folder and name it " SmitfraudFix".

Open the "SmitfraudFix" folder and double-click "smitfraudfix.cmd"
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Please download ATF-Cleaner to your desktop from this link
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/19/2/ We will need it later in safe mode

Download Ewido Security Suite then set it up this way Ewido Setup Instructions We will need this later in safe modeDownload killbox to your desktop from this link Killbox We will need it later in safe mode

Once you get AFT-Cleaner and Ewido downloaded reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer

After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;

Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;

Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".

Choose your usual account.

Once in Safe Mode, open the "SmitfraudFix" folder again and double-click "smitfraudfix.cmd"
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.

You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing " Y " and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.

The tool will now check if "wininet.dll " is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing "Y" and press "Enter".

The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart it into Normal Windows.

A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Also post back with a new HJT log and the ewido log once that scan is run.

After SmitfraudFix finishes (and after a reboot if required), please open Ewido. (If a reboot is required, please boot BACK into Safe Mode.)

Next run Ewido from safe mode let it delete all that it finds. When the scan has completed, Ewido will create a report.txt file. Click the "Save Report" button on the bottom of the screen and save the log to your desktop.

Your log looks much better, just some minor clean-up.

Please download ATF-Cleaner to your desktop from this link
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/19/2/

Reboot into safe mode.
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

Reboot to normal mode.

I would suggest that you uninstall "dell myway" as it can house spyware. Just do a google search for "uninstall dell myway" if you wish to do so.

Run Hijack This from normal mode, close all windows and browsers except HT, place a check to the left of these items and press "fix checked":

You should clean out your system restore folder. For instructions on how to purge system restore click Here

To create a new restore point go Start>Run>type "msconfig" without the quotes>ok>Launch System Restore>Tick the circle beside "create a restore point">next>name it anything you wish>Create>home>restart the computer.
