Hi

You have cool web search hijack, Here is a direct download link to a removal tool.

CWShredder.exe

Save it to disk, double click to run, close all browser windows, and explorer windows, click "fix", click "next", click exit.
*note*
You might see a warning popup about smartsearch infection...(the window title will be garbled)just click the ok button..don't worry about that..the program is still ok and it does not mean you have that infection.

Reboot the machine and post a fresh hijack log to this thread.

Yes Cool web appears to be gone however it appears you have the Ganda.a worm

More information available here and removal instructions here:

W32.GANDA.A@mm

You can run an online scan here:

Boot the computer to "safe mode with networking" so the worm doesn't start up with windows.
(tap the f8 key as computer is starting up, choose "safe mode with networking", hit enter)

Housecall

Allow the scanner to clean or remove what it finds.

Since this worm affects .exe and .scr files some windows files may have been damaged.
You can restore the files by running "system file checker"

Click "start"
Click "run"
Type "sfc /scannow" without the quotes
Have your xp cd ready (windows file protection will ask for it)
If any other programs were damaged you may need to reinstall them from back ups.

I am heading out to work nite shift (8pm here) and will check back in the morning.

You can try also this wonderful program called Trojan Remover 6.15 this program is a freeware for one month but fully updated.
Read well the "helpme" file in order to run correctly the two scans of the program: one to check and determine the problem into your memory RAM, second one to hunt, detect and eradicate the worm hidden somewhere in your hard drive... the only program in the world to do that like this.....
