I want to remove McAfee Securtiy Scan Plus from my computer

Specs: Windows XP
McAfee Security Scan Plus removal (no uninstall file)

I tried using control panel and it says I removed this program (I never installed it knowingly in the first place) but the Mcafee is still on my desktop. I tried using recommended methods of going to the program list, right clicking on this program and selecting uninstall but windows says the uninstall file is missing. I manually opened the Mcafee file and there is no uninstall file.
Cheers, So sick of McAfee ....

If it is only the shortcut on the desktop and the program_files folder, just delete both. Then install and run CCleaner - the registry section - just to get rid of any remaining links.

You could also try running the McAfee removal tool - scroll down to 'Solution 2' to download it - that should remove any traces of McAfee.

Thanks for the reply. I did find a solution since I couldn't remove the item with either "add or delete" (control panel) as it wasn't there, nor could I remove it with right click from programs since "unistall" was not there. I downloaded Revo Uninstaller pro and put it into "hunter" mode, move the target icon from Revo over the McAfee icon on my desktop and forced the removal. It worked fine and also removed old registery entries for the McAfee. I am a new Revo fan (will definitely be purchasing once my 30 day free trial is up).
Cheers, S.
