Comment: I put this program called 1Down3Up.exe on my computer and ran it. It contains the Joke_Russ.A virus. The point of the program is that everytime you close a window it opens three more. Even ending the task results in three more windows opening. I can stop this by rebooting (running Windows 98 SE). If I reboot, is the virus still there even if I don't run the program again? Does the virus do something besides the pop-up window thing behind the scenes? How do I get rid of it if it is still there or doing something else behind the scenes?

Reply: (edit)The "virus" is not really a virus! but its written in the same language as many a malicious virus is your AV will detect it as suspect that's good its doing its job i suggest you uninstall the program and make sure there is no trace of it left on your pc its nothing to worry about as it is what it says "A JOKE"

Reply: (edit)A 'joke' is not really a virus. These programs will sometimes cause windows to pop up or unexpected screen savers to start. These programs are usually harmless.
