AVG has a free version (avg 6). It also
scans your outgoing e-mail for any virus.
Can be downloaded from AVG.

There are three programs that I know about, Avast from ALWIL, AVG from GRISOFT and Antivir Personal Edition from H+BEDV. AVG is the most popular and is used by many people at this forum. I would check out the testing results from the Virus Bulletin, before you make your choice.

Hello James,
You know the story of this guy which would like to spend a night with a wonderful escort girl ?
When he arrives to the door of the address provided, he founds two doors: One said: "High standing" other one "No Standing", he chooses no standing !!!
he found two anothers doors: "expensive", "not expensive"
He chooses not expensive, when he opened that door, he was ejected to the street !!!!
and the door shut back quiclky..
Morality : when you don't want to pay for anything you will get nothing.....

I would rather get nothing than pay for Norton ANYTHING!!

AVG combined with some common sense works fine.

For free it's got to be AVG and ZoneAlarm for your firewall. They are the two most widely used by forum members.
