I might have a virus in my R4!

June 4, 2012 at 11:12:58
Specs: Windows Vista, ??? / ???
My R4 is not working. But when I try the SD Card in someone else's R4 Card. It either deletes a system file, DS_MENU.DAT, or makes the brightness go all crazy. It may have a virus on it but when I plug in the Adapter and put it in the adapter. It doesn't register it. I don't know what to do but then I suggested on buying a new one. Is that a good idea or can I fix the original one I have?

What is an R4?

Why don't you have a good security suite on your computer to test this?

An R4 is like a DS Card but you can put tons of games on it depending on the space in your SD\TF Card. The R4 isn't illegal, it's the games you put on it that makes it illegal.

I have AVG Free 2012 and AVG Internet Security. But it didn't detect it because it didn't register.

Also the virus on my computer restricts me from opening programs: e.g. Task Manager, Command Prompt and Souptoys/Toybox.

I can't open Task Manager when a program is not responding!

This is really not helpful!!!!

I need to fix that too.
I am buying a new R4 card so this is Solved by MYSELF! Cause no one owns up to tell me! I am happy now. But not so happy about the virus with the programs.

Is it a program virus? Reply asap if you know the answer

:) Okay...

Do you have anti-virus?
You should install a good antivirus in order to prevent reoccurrence of viruses. Try running anti-virus and try to plug-it again. Otherwise, formatting it will be the best way to remove all viruses but it will affect your existing data.

Download the Kaspersky Rescue disk from here: http://support.kaspersky.com/viruse... There are instructions on how to create the disk included. Boot your computer from the burnt cd and let it do a full scan of your pc to see what it finds.

That didn't work, it says it isn't found... But I have heard of Kaspersky...

The bad thing is, I need something to get rid of it though. And AVG isn't working... Is there any other antivirus. I have also tried MalwareBytes...
