Damn malware/spyware/i don't give a rat's ass what it's classified as, i want it off my system type bug got me again. Symantec Client protection doesn't work. I've got a bug and need it off. It continues redirecting every damn search result to flippin ass ad pages. It is very annoying. I had it like 5 times before. I just got this system and now I can't search a single thing without a redirect. HOW THE HELL DO I GET IT OFF? I really gribbled myself in to a big one now. Please help.

'Symantec Client protection doesn't work'

That's not new news, Symantec/Norton is one of the worst AV's anymore ever since they paid extensively to have trials put on all the new PC's in the past making people thing they were the best....MONEY....ADVERTISING

Use the Norton removal tool from their website to remove it. If you don't use the tool, it will leave crap in the registry and NO OTHER anti-virus will work properly.

Then try Avast Free and do a bootscan and put all it finds into the chest. Any questionable items, google them, just in case they are false positives.

You should also use Malwarebytes, update it and run a quick scan and remove all it finds.
Then run Trojan Remover and Hitman Pro, do the same.

Some HELP in posting on Computing.net plus free progs and instructions Cheers

First you need some soap and water and wash your mouth out. Then get rid of the norton get avast or avg and maleware bytes along with either of those.

Just because the OP does not come back in 3 or 4 days to reply, does not mean he will not come back and reply.

Trying Avast now. AVG had an install problem. MalwareBytes didn't find anything. I will try Trojan remover and Hitman Pro.

I found a solution. This virus targets all main stream browsers. The following browsers have been tested and work without the virus:
America Online (Yeah it sucks, but it works and I have an account)
Flock
K-Meleon
Maxthon Browser

Hopefully this helps everybody else that has this virus.
