I had downloaded this file that was sent to me on an instant message by my friend. I opened it then Norton antivirus notified me that I had a virus called Trojan.elitebar. When I started my computer up my wallpaper had been changed, my toolbars deleted, my settings changed, and a window that says 6arab4 pops up when i connect to the internet. I also have this program pokapoka69 which I can't locate. Please tell me how to get rid of this.

Download and install spybot search & destroy.
Download and install Adaware 6.0

open both programs and update them.
(do not run them yet.)

go here and download these tools

http://www.simplytech.it/ETRemover/

http://www.download.com/HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10379544.html?tag=lst-0-1

Boot the PC to safe mode.
Run the etremover tool.
Do not restart yet!

browse to c:\windows
delete the folder etb

do a search for elite*32.exe
delete all files you find.

do a search for pokapoka69.exe
If found delete it.

run hijackthis
click scan
put a check mark next to all boxes that have pokapoka and elite**.exe in them.
Click fix.

scan your PC with adaware 6.0.
Remove all that it finds.

scan your PC with spybot search & destroy.
fix all that it finds.

Reboot your PC.

Try this removal toll ETRemover

Run this free online scan from Panda

Purge System Restore by shutting it down and restarting it.

Download, update and run these spyware removal programs

Adaware SE and once you get it updated go back to the link and install the vx2 cleaner and follow the directions to install it the run it. This updated tool will remove most vx2 infections including Look2Me.

Spybot

cwshredder use the stand alone version.

You need to make sure there is not anything in the recycle bin that you need. Then download and run ccleaner to clean out all your temp files.<

If that don't help You will most likely need to post a Hijack This log so that the files associated with the virus can be identified. You can download Hijack This at this link http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/ then place it into a folder of it's on, such as C:\HJT, so that back up copies can be made and not clutter your desktop or other folders and the backup copies of deleted items can be easily located if needed.

Once saved double click HijackThis.exe, and press "Scan". When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, Ctrl-A to Select All, and copy its contents into the text editor.

Do not fix anything yet.
