I am not allowed to access system restore on my pc. My pc runs slower than usual. I ran a scan with Avira and this file could not be opened or scanned C:\pagefile.sys. How do I open this file? and do viruses tend to hide in this type of location on the PC? What can I do to remove this virus? Thanx in advance for your support.

C:\pagefile.sys. is where xp uses to help replace memory.

It would be unlikely to be a virus. Check that your virtual memory is set to let xp manage and if so do nothing more.

"Best Practices", Event viewer, host file, perfmon, antivirus, anti-spyware, Live CD's, backups, are in my top 10
