hello,
you have to remember that when you got a virus you are not safe only because you destroy the file corrupted.
Virus has many ways to spread in a computer, the most current one is to use a part of your hard drive called " FATS " which is a zone unreadable for you where your computer takes all informations needed to open correctly. Of course if a virus is there it will open too and will corrupt the memory to act again and again, you need to have a program to clean your memory and the " FATS" , I always say you need to buy a program anti-virus otherwise you will take most of your time to rebuilt your computer destroyed... Norton and MCaffe are the most well known in the market, I will choose Norton personnaly, for Trojan's virus I took TrojanRemover, excellent program shareware, TrojanRemover is found on the net at the address http://www.simplysup.com
Better to protect yourself when using the net than endure a contamination

Your better off not scanning from Windows at all.
Always scan using your emergency boot disks that you made. You DID make them right :)

Seriously, many viruses cannot be detected or removed from a Windws session of any kind, including "safe mode". Once Windows loads it's too late. The best bet is always from DOS mode.
