Comment: My computer started acting strange yesterday. Somehow, my firewall has been turned off and I am not able to tur nit back on. Also, my printer became uninstalled and I cannot reinstall it. Third, the performance has been rather slow since these other two happened. Does anyone know what is wrong and how to fix it?

Reply: If you haven't done so already, update and run your virus checker and any malware finders you have on board. Ad-Aware (free) is worth trying if you haven't already got it. DerekW

Reply: Try visiting McAfee's or Symantic's websites. If these are blocked or "not found" you have a particularly nasty virus, of which there are several, that break the firewall, disable the AVS, and blocks websites of popular AV makers in your HOSTS file. Run your AVS from a floppy and see what you get.

Reply: Well I can visit Symantic's website. I ran a system restore and it didn't help. I also ran Ad Aware and my antivirus and neither seemed to help
