I Can't Install ANY softwares on my computer

April 7, 2011 at 14:38:26
Specs: Windows XP
Last night I caught a trojan (Windows Security 2010/2011). First it asked me to purchase theirs product. I restarted my pc in save mode. I tried to run anti-virus programs from my flash (I do not have any installed anti-virus programs on my pc currently) but it didn't allow me. Every time I clicked on it, it said that I'm missing my EXE file. I fixed my exe thing but it still won't work. Every time I try to run any installations it asks me to download it from inet. As I press RUN, it just ignores then. p.s. I don't have any inet access cause of the virus, it won't let me to run any browsers.
Can you help me please. At least I have to know how to run installation so I can scan my pc and fix all problems. Thank you.
p.p.s. sorry for any grammar mistakes ;)

How do you know what you caught without an antivirus program? Was it a "program" that appeared to be legitimate? What was the program called? Windows Security 2011?

Download MalwareBytes freebie and run it. If it won't run you can change the exe file to either cmd or bat (that applies to both the download and the program exe).

If necessary download it to a flash drive on another computer then transfer it across.

Why on earth have you no Antivirus when there are perfectly good free ones about? Some examples:

Microsoft Security Essentials

Please come back and let us know how you got on.
