I cant install a firewall

CPU/Ram: amd 700 256mb

I made the mistake of not having a firewall on and now AVG has discovered trojan horses and i cant install a firewall, everytime i try my computer restarts itself. Can anyone help me?

U forgot to mention which firewall u were trying to install.
Secondly firewalls can only block communications
not remove trojans.

Have you removed all the virii that you have first? There are numerous virii that will disable firewall functions and some that make it impossible to install anything.

As a backup to AVG, go to either of the following two and run an online scan

Panda Active Scan

Yeh iv removed the viruses, im tried to install norton PF 2003, then Zonealarm 2.5 and theyt both restarted my computer!

Click Start > Run > type regedit and click OK
Click the + next to the following keys

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
Software
Microsoft
Windows
CurrentVersion

Scroll down and click on the Run folder.
In the right hand window look for:

ccreg = C:\WINNT\System32\explorer.exe

Right click on this entry and click delete.

Collapse the registry tree, close regedit and reboot.

Do a find files for Explorer.exe in the C:\WINNT\System32\ folder and delete it.

**Don't delete the Explorer.exe in the C:\WINNT folder.

See this and run the Rnis.exe to remove all of the norton firewall.
