Try the following:
Open a DOS command prompt window (Start > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt)
Copy/Paste the following commands, one at a time, and then, press: 'Enter' after each:
regsvr32 /u "\ProgramFiles\SearchToolbar\SToolbar.dll"
Did it tell you it cannot be found, or did it unregister successfully?
In Explorer (Right-click Start > Explorer) navigate to C:\Program Files\Search Toolbar, and if there, delete the folder.
Now, download CCleaner:
Click on > Download Latest Version (Upper right green button with white arrow)
Once installed, run CCleaner
Click the 'Windows' tab, and select the following:
In Internet Explorer:
Recently Typed URLs
Delete Index.dat files
Empty Recycle Bin
Then click >Run Cleaner< (bottom right)
When done, Exit.
Clear your Java cache:
Make sure you download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) Version 6 Update 26:
Save to the Desktop, but, do not install it yet.
Close any programs you may have running - especially the web browser.
Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Programs and Features and remove all older versions of Java. (Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.)
Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
Reboot your computer when all the older Java components are removed.
Then, go back to your Desktop, and double-click on jre-6u26-…..exe to install the newest version of Java.
Try doing some browsing, and see if it comes back.
